Psychoacoustics, microtonality, and music perception. PhD candidate, Doctoral School of UMFC Warsaw.

Krzysztof Kicior's research focuses on composing music in the context of its performance and perception, as well as novel performative and receptive aspects in relation to newly created works.

As part of the Diamond Grant project (2019), he conducted research into the psychoacoustic properties of microtonal systems. A central question is categorical perception of neutral thirds in musical context. Whereas categorical perception has traditionally been studied using isolated auditory stimuli under controlled laboratory conditions, Kicior's approach integrates real-world musical context into these investigations.

As a teacher, he has lectured in music theory, composition, and electronic music at UMFC's Department of Composition and Music Theory. He has given guest lectures at numerous educational institutions on several continents.

Research findings have been published in the INSAM Journal of Contemporary Music, Art and Technology (Vol. 11, Issue II/2023), among other venues.
